following transcriptions come from the daily newspaper, El
Diario de la Marina. Although in later years the civil
registry of deaths and marriages was published, this is not true of
earlier issues. In 1875 some marriage announcements, as well as a
few deaths/memorials, were published. These have been extracted
below.

COMUNICADOS – ENLACE
En la mañana del 5, en la Iglesia de Ntra. Sra. de
Guadalupe, se unieron con el indisoluble lazo del matrimonio, la
simpática Srita. Da. LORETO QUINTANA, con apreciable
jóven D. DOMINGO PIÑERA, siendo padrinos de manos el Sr. D.
Miguel Miranda y la Srita. Da. Paola Piñera
y de velaciones el Sr. D. Rosendo Piñera y la Srta. Da.
Joaquina Piñera, padre y hermana del novio. Les desea una
