Los Periódicos de Pinar del Río

Proemio

Desde hace varios años, he venido dedicando, algunos ratos de ocio, que no son muchos, a la adquisición de datos para confeccionar este ESTUDIO BIBLIOGRAFICO DE LA PRENSA DE PINAR DEL RIO.

Las primicias de lo obtenido hasta 1930, quisimos ofrecerlo en una de las sesiones de “Tertulias Literarias”, que se celebraban semanalmente aquí.

Cambiada la faz de lo que nuestro entender debían ser aquellas “Tertulias Literarias”, hubimos de retirarnos de ellas, y por lo tanto, aquel trabajo no fué presentado.

Con motivo de la celebración en esta ciudad del III Congreso Nacional de Periodistas (días 7, 8 y 9 de Febrero de 1947) quisimos recoger todo lo recopilado hasta entonces, en un folleto, y no pudimos llevar a cabo nuestro propósito.

Como seria egoísta el guardarlo y no darlo a la publicidad, no por vanidad, sino como contribución al acervo intelectual de Vuelta Abajo, es que nos decidimos a publicarlo ahora, en fecha memorable, al cumplirse CIEN AÑOS de la aparición del primer periódico de Pinar del Rio.

Y lo hacemos en esta fecha, como homenaje a la Prensa Pinareña y también como una débil prueba de mi afecto a esta ciudad, que tan amorosamente me ha acogido, otorgándome el título de HIJO ADOPTIVO de Pinar del Rio.

Newspapers of Pinar del Rio

Preface

For several years I have been devoting some of my free time, which is not great, to the acquisition of information for this BIBLIOGRAPHICAL STUDY OF THE PRESS OF PINAR DEL RIO.

Initially, we wanted to offer the information obtained in one of the weekly “Literary Gatherings” which were celebrated here. However, we retreated from those “Literary Gatherings” as they were not what we originally thought them to be. Therefore, the collected work was never presented.

We wanted to gather everything compiled until then and present it, in booklet form, at the III National Congress of Journalists (on the 7^th, 8^th and 9^th of February 1947) but could not carry out our intention.

Since it would be egoistic to keep it and not to give it to the public, not for vanity, but as a contribution to the intellectual assets of Vuelta Abajo, we decide to publish it now; on the 100^th anniversary of the appearance of the first newspaper of Pinar del Rio.

We do it on this date, as homage to the Pinareña Press and also as a small token of my affection to this city, which so lovingly has received me and bestowed upon me the title of FOSTER CHILD of Pinar del Rio.
