Before the rise of the public library, access to large collections of books was the privilege of a wealthy minority. Now, with the help of their library partners, Google Books Search is able to offer the ability to download and read out-of-copyright books from some of the world’s greatest collections as ebooks.
The books on this particular list deal primarily with Cuba and/or Cuban topics. Our heartfelt thanks to Benjamin Fernandez who shared his many findings with us, as well as many others who have contributed to this list. This is a work in progress and we will continue to add titles as they are found.
Clicking on the title of the book will connect you to the Google Book page with the corresponding book. Once there you will see a red rectangle with the words EBOOK-FREE. Click on it and you will be directed to Google Play. You will be asked to sign in to your Google account. Once you do, you will see a green button with the words GET IT NOW. Click there to download the free ebook. You can then choose to read the book on the web or on an Android device.
The Cuban Genealogy Center also has a list of digitized books available for your perusal at http://www.cubagenweb.org/refs/digital.htm.
